Samsung has recently launched the Galaxy S22 Series. This time also the company has brought three phones in this flagship series. These include Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra. We have used the base variant of Galaxy S22.
As soon as the name of Galaxy S series comes to mind, the image of a premium looking phone comes to mind, which will get features like great display, good performance and strong camera. But has the Galaxy S22 been able to take this image forward? Let us know in this review, how is the Galaxy S22 smartphone with the lowest price of Samsung’s new flagship series.

Design and build quality
The design of the Galaxy S22 will look very similar to the Galaxy S21. There is no major change in the design compared to the previous series. Yes, slight changes will definitely be seen to give a fresh look to the new smartphone. Glass back with aluminum frame has been used in the phone. Its rear panel is completely flat. This is a major difference, which makes the S22’s design different from the S21’s. The rear panel of the S21 is curved from the side.
Well, let’s talk about the S22. Like other S-series smartphones, its camera module has been given in the top left corner on the rear panel. The camera module comes with a slight bump. All the three sensors given in it are placed from top to bottom. Next to the camera module is the LED flash. Samsung’s branding is given at the bottom on the rear panel, which is with soft touch.
The right side on the side frame has two lines each at the top and bottom, which enhances its look. At the bottom are the SIM card slot, USB Type-C charging port and speaker grille. Volume and power buttons are found on the right side of the frame. At the front, there is a screen with very thin bezels all around. The punch-hole cutout given for selfie is also quite small.
The build quality of the phone is solid. There will be no complaint related to this. Its size is so compact that it can be used easily with one hand. Due to the small size and low weight, you can keep it in hand for a long time. You will not find it awkward even once.
If you use a phone with a big screen and are not fond of watching videos, then once you use it, you will definitely feel like using the Galaxy S22. The look of the phone is decent. Build quality is good. There will be no complaints like scratches on the back panel. Easy to use. Overall the design and build quality gives a premium feel.
How much power is there in the display?
Galaxy S22 has a 6.1-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. It supports 120hz refresh rate. There is also an option of 60hz as well. The display is flat and has very thin bezels all around. Companies also call it bezel-less, that is, display without bezel. It has a punch-hole cutout at the top, which houses the selfie camera.
It is obvious that if it is a flagship phone of Samsung, then the company will not give any chance of complaint in terms of display. It will also get features like adaptive brightness, eye comfort shield, accidental touch protection and touch sensitivity. Talking about the real life usage experience, its display is very smooth and bright.
In common parlance, it will feel like butter. If you use the phone even in strong sunlight, then the content on the display will be very clear. Adaptive brightness does its job well, adjusting the brightness of the display higher or lower according to your needs.
The display will give a good experience even while watching videos and playing games. The punch-hole cutout given for the selfie is so small that you can hardly see it while watching the video. Since the size of the display is small, you might miss a phone with a bigger screen while playing games like Battle Royale. Rest, in terms of display quality, this smartphone takes the whole number.
Galaxy S22 smartphone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and 8GB RAM. 128GB and 256GB storage options have been given in the phone. We have used its 128GB storage variant. This phone does not have the facility to increase the internal storage.
In terms of performance, it gives a complete flagship feel. This phone is also great for multi-tasking. It has the facility to open up to 99 tabs on the browser. These 99 tabs are almost always open during my use. Along with this, many apps are also running. Despite this, the performance of the phone is not light at all.
The Galaxy S22 is strong even during gaming. I have played many other games in this phone including PUBG New State and Battle Grounds Mobile India (BGMI). Games run smoothly even on heavy-graphics settings. Even after playing the game for a long time, there was no complaint from the performance.
Yes, one drawback spoils the fun of the Galaxy S22’s excellent performance. Actually, this phone gets very hot. You will see this problem on every level, not only during gaming. If you use its camera for a while, even then the phone will get very hot. There is a complaint of heating the phone even during long calling. Now if the phone is heating up during gaming, photography and calling, then obviously it is also hot while charging.
How’s the camera?
The Galaxy S22 has three cameras at the back. The main camera of the phone is 50MP. Along with 10MP telephoto and 12MP ultrawide lens is available. The front camera is of 10MP. Samsung’s sensors are known for good photos. You will get the same experience in S22 as well.
Talking about real life experience, the camera of Galaxy S22 gets good photos in daylight. This applies with all three of its sensors. Portrait mode, macro mode or ultrawide, you will get a decent photo in every mode. Good detail comes in the pictures. At the same time, pictures clicked with 50MP camera mode become more sharp with better detailing.
Yes, the ultrawide camera looks a bit light in indoor or rather low light. When you zoom in a little on the photo taken with it in low light, it will not look clear. The other two cameras click fine pictures even in indoor. The selfie camera may be of 10 megapixels, but it clicks great photos. The camera seems to do its job well even in night mode. However, some photos of Night Mode may look a bit like oil paint to you. This will be seen when the photo is clicked in low light at night.
Photos from this Samsung phone are good, so it does not mean that the photo is absolutely real. You will get to see a color boost in almost every picture clicked with this phone. Meaning, the actual color of the object or place you are clicking the picture of, the brighter color will appear in the photo.
This makes the photo look good, but it becomes a little different from the real one. This is because of its AI. However, there will be very few users who will complain about it, because the color boost makes the picture very sharp and bright.
With this phone you can click photos up to 30X zoom. 30X zoom can be used to see distant objects. Yes, a picture clicked up to 10X zoom is eligible for social media uploads. However, it depends on the light condition.
A lot of features have been given in the camera app of Galaxy S22. Many of these features are of great use. I was impressed by its two features – Remaster Picture and Object Eraser. If the camera shakes slightly while clicking the photo, due to which the photo is slightly blurred, then the Remaster Picture feature comes in handy here. This feature makes slightly blurred photos much better.
At the same time, Object Eraser comes in handy when you want to delete a particular part or object in the photo. Suppose you clicked a photo and there is something in it that you want to remove, then you can take the help of this feature. It removes that area from the photo very well.
Talking about video, with this Samsung flagship phone, you can shoot video from HD to 8K. For videos, you will get many features like Pro Video, Slow Motion, Super Slow-motion, Portrait Video and Directors View. You will not find any complaints related to clarity or sound in the videos shot with this phone.
How much battery life
Samsung Galaxy S22 has a 3700mAh battery. It supports 25W fast charging. Charger is not available with the phone. The company definitely gives a cable in its box, which you can charge the phone by plugging it into any other adapter. I charge it with the 25W charger that comes with other Samsung phones. It takes a little more than one and a half hours for its battery to be fully charged with that charger.
If you are a basic user, that is, use the phone for needs like calling, chatting, social media updates, then after full charge at 9-10 in the morning, you will need to charge it again at 5-6 in the evening. However, by then its battery will remain around 15%, which means that it will be almost completely exhausted. One more thing, for this much backup, keep WiFi calling off in the phone, otherwise the battery may run out more quickly.
In terms of battery capacity, its backup is fine. Yes, if it had a 4000mAh battery and had similar optimizations, a number would have gone up. If you are a heavy user, that is, do most of the office meetings on the phone, play games or watch a lot of videos, then its battery will disappoint you. The Galaxy S22 smartphone comes with 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging support.
- The Galaxy S22 smartphone works on Samsung’s One UI 4.1 operating system based on Android 12. In this you will get a clean user interface.
- This smartphone comes with IP68 rating, which means it is water and dust protected. This rating means that even after being in 1.5 meters deep water for half an hour, this phone will not get damaged.
- Security features like face unlock and in-display fingerprint scanner work well. The fingerprint scanner unlocks the phone even with a slight wet finger. At the same time, the Face Unlock feature performs better even in low light.
- The sound quality of the speaker is fine. It is loud and clear enough to listen to songs on mobile. The voice is clear even during calling on speaker mode.
- There is no problem related to network or connectivity in the phone.
How much is the price?
The Galaxy S22 comes in two variants. The variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage costs Rs 72,999. At the same time, the price of the variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is Rs 76,999.

What to buy Galaxy S22?
Now the biggest question, should I buy this small flagship phone from Samsung? There is no doubt that in Galaxy S22 you get decent look, great display, strong performance and good camera (despite the complaints of color boost). Apart from these features, I really liked its compact size.
However, this phone also has some flaws. It gets very hot. Considering the everyday needs of a common user, its battery is small, which should have been at least 4000mAh. Not only is the charging speed slow in terms of segment-wise, the phone doesn’t even come with a charger, which adds to its overall cost a bit.
In our view, Samsung Galaxy S22 is a good flagship phone with compact size. But considering the competition, its price seems high. If its price was about 10 thousand rupees less, then I think it could have become one of the first choice of users in its segment.
